What to expect at Dunes Pain Specialists

Our physicians using fluoroscopy imaging technique will administer the epidural corticosteroids in the spine with pinpoint precision. Prior to that, a local anesthetic is given to provide temporary relief of the pain. The patient after the epidural steroid injection procedure is kept under observation by the physician – this is usually less than half an hour. The physician also provides the patient with necessary after-care precautions if a sedative was given.
One or more steroid injections might be administered if the patient’s situation is particularly severe. However, each year we will not administer more than two or three steroid injections.
